Picnic in paradise

Picnic in paradise
December 28, 2014 by andreaonderweg

I like road tripping, but no matter how much I enjoy staring at the landscapes I pass when I’m driving, it’s even better getting out of the car to explore. On the way from Christchurch to Arthur’s pass, you drive past Castle Hill. The place is popular for bouldering, but also a scenic playground for people who just want to stretch their legs or a nice spot for a picnic. With a landscape like this, it’s easy to get stunning pictures too. Right next to the rest stop is Castle Hilll  station. Just imagine having a farm on this property! Unbelievable that this is right next to the highway!

Fabulously smooth gray rocks jutting into the sky.
